THE NELLIE BLY COLLECTION

VOLUME I: The Books

Nellie Bly’s four published books are presented together in a single volume. Including her classic insane asylum expose Ten-Days In A Mad-House, the accounts of her famous globe-trotting trip Around The World In Seventy-Two Days and previous travelogue Six Months in Mexico along with Nellie Bly’s only novel The Mystery of Central Park.

VOLUME II: The Pittsburg Dispatch

This volume contains 81 articles from Nellie Bly’s time writing for The Pittsburg Dispatch (1885-1887), many of which haven’t seen the light of day since they were originally published!

Nellie’s Dispatch articles address the plight of women as second class citizens in America. She profiles prominent individuals and writes a column on her observations of society. Finally, Nellie travels to Mexico, writing about the people, places culture and a corrupt government forcing her to stay one step ahead of the police.

VOLUME III: THE WORLD (1887-1888)

In 1887, reporter Nellie Bly joined the staff of Joseph Pulitzer’s New York newspaper The World with an exposé that set the city on fire. Her articles detailing the Dickensian conditions and suffering of patients at the insane asylum on Blackwell’s Island would shock and outrage readers, propelling massive change in the care of the mentally ill.

This collection of 34 articles focuses on hard-hitting topics such as the trafficking of unwanted infants, conditions of low-wage workers in factories and exposing a crooked lobbyist offering to bribe state politicians, and so much more.
