1920

Continuing in her time at The Evening Journal, Nellie Bly became quite prolific in her writing. Here we find her providing numerous articles on sensational events such as the disappearance of Henrietta Bulte and murder of Joseph Elwell. With the 19th Amendment about to be ratified, Nellie covers the Republican National Convention where women are allowed to vote for the first time; then finishes the year by providing thoughts on the meaning of Christmas.

Listed below are the dates and titles and descriptions for a number of Nellie’s Evening Journal articles from 1920. However, this list is not complete. Click on the “VIEW ARTICLE” button for downloadable images of these articles in their original newspaper setting. Please return as the list will grow, with more images of articles posted over time. Special thanks to the staff at the Library of Congress for their assistance in curating this material.

A complete collection of the articles Nellie Bly wrote for The Evening Journal during this time period will be available in THE NELLIE BLY COLLECTION: Volume IX – The Evening Journal (1920). Coming soon from Xlibris Publishing.
